ROBLOX Services: 2 Months Later

Since Melon Development was founded in early 2017, pushing the boundaries of quality and customer experience in an industry of constant innovation and growth was always one of our top priorities.

In 2018, we pushed this focus toward our first two public branches: Minecraft Development and Web Services. The response we got was far better than we could’ve ever anticipated. We were so excited to offer our skills and expertise to the community and creators that helped us grow to begin with.

To close out the year, we made an announcement almost nobody expected:

Melon Development entered ROBLOX.

For those unaware, ROBLOX is a sandbox game that allows users to create their own virtual game world experiences that their friends can join in on. At least, that’s what it started as. Over the last few years, as users continued to push the boundaries of the platform, those game worlds of just friends became worlds filled with thousands (if not tens of thousands) of concurrent players at once.

We talk about our reasons for the expansion more in our original blog post. However, these numbers were unlike any we had ever seen when we offered our Minecraft services. In fact, the player count numbers on some of the most popular games rival what the most popular Minecraft server, Hypixel, was able to achieve at its peak. (Shoutout to the Hypixel team, you all do amazing work!)

So, how’s the response 2 months later?

In short: More than we could have ever expected.

Before we expand into new territory, we conduct in depth market research to see if there are any other companies like ours in the space. If there are, we find out how we can innovate or focus our services to provide the best experience possible, otherwise, we use what we’ve learned in our other branches to deliver the same high quality offerings our clients are used to.

For ROBLOX, it turns out there is nobody like us that operates at the same scale. We launched just offering Development and World Building services - but we quickly expanded when we saw the demand for custom features beyond just basic games.

Today, our ROBLOX division is our largest team with more additions every week.

What this means for the future.

Melon Development has no plans to change course and we will continue to offer our entire suite of services to all the areas we currently cover. However, with the interest ROBLOX has seen and the amount of users contacting us for custom games, we see a fantastic future both for ROBLOX and our involvement with the platform.
